l I thought Martina Devlin's article (Irish Independent, August 21) was spot on. For my twopence worth, I feel that we ought to concentrate our efforts on the technical sports such as track cycling. GB spent £31m (€38.9m) on their track team and have now won 40pc of their medals from this sport. That's a pretty good return, 14 medals of varying hues at £2.2m (€2.7m) per medal. I'd buy that any day.
