Sir -- Every week now we read of the disgusting behaviour of our Leaving Cert students especially on foreign holidays.

Coghlan is no Olympic failure

Sir -- "It is not the winning but the taking part". As of writing, Ireland has three bronze Olympic medals in Beijing, thanks to our boxers. Parents of both boxers spoke of their pride at their achievements but stressed the fact that they were taking part in the Olympics at all was a joy and pride to them.

King had a heart

Sir -- Rosita Sweetman in her review of Helen Rappaport's Ekaterinburg: The Last Days of the Romanovs (Sunday Independent, August 10, 2008) notes that George V "allowed his adviser to put him off the idea of offering the family asylum".
